The Independent Media Trust is a charitable institution that funds, incubates and builds the organisations, infrastructure and ideas needed for a healthier media and information ecosystem.
We believe great independent media needs three things.
It needs to be visible:
To be able to reach audiences and compete in a media environment increasingly controlled by powerful platforms.
It needs to be viable:
To be supported by sustainable funding, fair economics and strong organisations. Producing vital work needs to be paid.
And it needs to be accountable:
To be held to high standards, independent regulation and a clear responsibility to the public.
Our job is to help build the institutions and infrastructure that make those things possible.
